Does the Bible Contradict Itself?
Main idea: Students will consider how they interpret Bible stories that seem inconsistent.
In the Bible we read authentic, human stories about the way some have encountered God—which sometimes leaves us with passages and stories that seem to contradict one another. Often teenagers wonder: if the Bible’s writers tell conflicting stories, how can we trust its record?
Throughout this session, you’ll guide students to compare varying eye-witness accounts of Jesus’ resurrection and other Bible stories, explore different perspectives on interpretation, identify what questions these raise, and reflect on aspects of the Bible that encourage their personal faith.
