Does God Discriminate Against Women?
Main idea: Students will gain a basic understanding of the complex issues involved when exploring biblical views of women in leadership in both the church and home. This session will help some students understand why this question is important, even if they don’t fully arrive at answers.
Faith, religion, and culture often impact perspectives on the roles men and women hold. Stories and passages throughout the Bible present a few very different pictures of how women were treated and the different roles they might fulfill at home, in the community, and in places of worship. Some of them might lead students to wonder, “Does God discriminate against women?”
Throughout this session you’ll guide students to explore different examples in Scripture, consider insights from biblical scholars, and look to the example God sets for us through Jesus.
