Teach teenagers to pray in their own words, in their own way.

FYI’s On-the-Go prayer activities empower you to lead teenagers at every age and stage into deeper conversation with God. Each low-prep activity includes a quick centering or focus prayer, interactive reflection, and practical application prompts that get students praying in their own words. Use them at weekly youth groups, special events, camps, and retreats to teach your teens fresh and engaging ways to pray.

Praying for Those Who are Hard to Love

Compassion and prayer go hand in hand. The process of growing in Christlike compassion is nurtured through reflection and listening—both to God’s word and to the experiences of those around us. FYI’s Faith Beyond Youth Group research has found that God created the human heart and mind to build compassion the same way we build muscles: through steady, intentional exercise.

Through this prayer sketching activity, you’ll guide your students to identify someone in their lives who they find difficult to love sometimes. Then, you’ll lead your group through a reflection designed to help them grow in empathy and form their own words of prayer for that person. Your teens can try this prayer exercise any time they want to ask God to help them respond compassionately to someone in their everyday life.
