Is It Okay To Talk About My Faith With My Friends?
Main idea: Students will consider Jesus’ call to “make disciples,” reflect on the impact God’s good news has had on their own lives, and explore how God’s love might be shared with their friends through words and actions.
Jesus’ last words in Matthew’s gospel instruct us, his followers, to share his message in the world around us. But teenagers today receive many mixed messages about how to talk about their faith with respect and care for others. Some may have even had their own experiences—good and bad—of people wanting to influence their faith.
Throughout this session you’ll guide students to consider the impact God’s good news has had in their own lives and discuss how these messages are lived out through their words and actions. Students will explore what it means to make disciples, look at examples Jesus offers, and reflect on ways they can live out God’s love in their friendships and other peer relationships.
